Timothy E. Fairbanks, A.D.R. understands that when people hire a representative, they are often experiencing a very stressful situation. These people need someone who cares about them. Fairbanks Disability makes sure our clients not only receive high-quality legal representation, but also the support and resources they deserve. Stop by or call our office for a no-cost consultation and case evaluation. Even if you don't hire us, we may be able give you information that can help guide you down the right path. Just because a case can't be won right now doesn't necessarily mean that it can never be won. Some claimants re-apply several times before getting a favorable decision. It could be something simple that is keeping your case from moving forward. There are technical (non-medical) reasons and procedural errors that could be holding your case back. We can spot these issues and help correct them.
Qualifications
Tim belongs to a highly specialized class of legally trained professional non-attorney reresentatives. Because of his education, experience, and high degree of demonstrated competence, Tim qualified to take Social Security's comprehensive law examination. Upon passing, he was appointed as an Eligible for Direct Payment Non-Attorney (EDPNA) disability representative. This does not mean Tim is employed by or contracted to SSA. This designation allows Tim to legally practice Social Security disability law and represent claimants in Social Security administrative courts. Tim is also required to complete continuing legal education (CLE) and ethics courses every year.
Education
Tim has degrees in Administration of Justice from Sierra College, and Paralegal Studies from UC Davis. He is currently working toward his Master's Degree in Human Services.
Professional Associations
Tim is a member in good standing of the National Association of Disability Representatives (NADR), one of two representative associations recognized by the Social Security Administration. Tim was awarded the advanced designation of Accredited Disability Representative (ADR) in 2012. NADR provides continuing legal education and has a lobbying body that works with Congress to further claimant's rights and eliminate fraud and waste in the system. You can visit their website at www.nadr.org
Experience
After graduating from UC Davis Extension, Sacramento, Tim interned at the Sacramento Co. District Attorneys Office. After his internship, Tim began providing support services for local attorneys and Notary Public services in Sacramento. Tim learned family law (divorce, custody, and support) document preparation and Social Security disability law. Tim then took SSA's law exam and began representing clients in SSA disability cases.
Other experience
Tim is a former police officer and investigator, having worked in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Amador Counties. Tim served in the US Army with special airborne deployment units at Ft. Eustis and Langley AFB in Virginia.
